Join the Beta waitlist

Welcome, and thanks for stopping by!

We are a very small team who have been working on this side project for quite a while, and we are FINALLY ready to show it to the outside world. It's a browser-based world builder app for creating beautiful, detailed, and highly customizable maps that can be exported for printing or use in VTTs.

  • Beta access is completely free.
  • If this sounds like your kind of thing, sign up, join our , and Reddit.
  • We’re working hard to launch the Beta version before GTA 6!

Customizable objects

Objects are more than static stamps. Change parts, colors, and details to make them fit your world.

  • Blend mountains and rocks into the surrounding terrain.
  • Customize an orcish hut to fit your tribe.
  • Adapt trees and forests to different environments.
  • And countless other combinations.

Customizable textures

Textures are more than static images. Adjust texture details and colors to create the terrain you want.

  • Blend rugged, rocky terrain into sandy ground and other environments.
  • Create shallow water and deep seas from the same texture.
  • And countless other ways to turn terrain into art.

Versatile brushes

From broad landscapes to the smallest finishing touches, specialized brushes give you the tools to shape every part of your map.

  • Blend different terrain naturally.
  • Draw roads, rivers, trails, and other paths.
  • Add effects and finishing touches to bring your map to life.

Upscale your maps

Export your maps at much higher resolutions for printing, virtual tabletops, or simply sharper final images.

  • Adjust grid size and resolution for virtual tabletops.
  • Create high-resolution files ready for printing.

More coming soon

We’re constantly working on the app. Stay tuned for new features as BrushCrit grows.

Frequently asked questions

What is Brushcrit?

Brushcrit is a browser-based mapmaking tool with highly customizable assets, built to help you create beautiful and functional maps for VTTs or printing.

What kinds of maps can I create?

For the Beta, we’ll start with one world-map style. We plan to expand this over time with more styles and map types.

How is it different from other mapmaking tools?

We’re focusing heavily on customizable assets and an intuitive interface. The goal is to make mapmaking smooth and approachable for beginners, while still giving experienced artists enough freedom to push their maps much further.

When will the Beta begin?

We’re working hard to get it ready as soon as possible. Right now, we expect the Beta to begin within the next one or two months.

How do I get invited to the Beta?

Just join the waiting list by entering your email here. That’s it!

Will everyone who signs up get an invite?

Hopefully, yes!

It depends on how many people sign up. If we somehow get way more interest than we can comfortably handle during the Beta, we may need to close registrations.

Our goal is for everyone who joins the waiting list to eventually receive an invite.

Will the Beta be free?

Yes. The Beta will be completely free.

Will my maps be saved during the Beta?

Yes. Your maps will be saved during the Beta, and we’ll do our best to keep them available when the app moves into public release.

Can I export my maps?

Yes. You’ll be able to export maps at resolutions up to 20K, including JPG and PDF formats for printing.

What browsers will be supported?

The Beta will support Chromium-based browsers.

Can I share feedback or suggest features?

Absolutely — we really want you to.

Please join our Discord community and share your feedback, ideas, problems, and suggestions. Your input will help us shape and finalize the app before the public launch.

Where can I follow development updates?

You can follow development and join the community on our Discord and subreddit.

What happens after I join the waiting list?

We’ll invite people to the Beta in waves, based on when they signed up.

So the sooner you join the waiting list, the sooner you’re likely to get access. :)
